James E. Neighbors, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo. He was born May 8, 1921, in Carmi, Illinois, son of Mark and Dulcena Smith Neighbors. He married Irene Anliker in 1941 in Elgin, Illinois. They were later divorced. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and had been employed at Pinkerton Security, Omaha; the YMCA, Fort Dodge; and then was a printer at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1972.
Survived by: a son, James E. of Ruthven; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin of Litchfield, Minnesota. Preceded in death by: a brother, Lee; and a sister, Lola Newkirk.
Graveside services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. There will be no visitation. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
