John Curtis Muncy, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. He was born July 28, 1932, in Cedar Falls, son of Fred and Elsie Wilmarth Muncy. He married Margaret Thomae June 20, 1958, in Gladbrook. She died June 7, 1993.
Mr. Muncy graduated from Iowa State Teachers College High School and received a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Iowa State University. He also received a master's degree in education in educational media and a master's degree in library science, both from the University of Northern Iowa. Mr. Muncy served in the U. S. Army from 1954-1956 and again from 1961-1962. He taught vocational agriculture for several years and educational media at UNI. He then was a reference librarian at Cedar Falls Public Library for twenty-two years.
Survived by: a son, John of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Nancy of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Corinne Brown of Story City.
Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, with inurnment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation. Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls is in charge of arrangements.
