Mary Anna Meyer Mary Anna Meyer, 90, of Stanley, died Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Mercy Living Plus, Oelwein. She was born December 27, 1920, in rural Stanley, daughter of Leon Nicholas and Mildred M. Joslin Meyer. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1938, then worked at Kline & Traeger Grocery Store, Stanley, for three years. She then moved to Waterloo and graduated from Gates Business College. She worked at Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa), Cedar Falls, for three and a half years, then worked for Brown & Dieckman Insurance Company, Waterloo, for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1984. She had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stanley, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein.
Survived by: a sister, Margaret Combs of Penfield, New York. Preceded in death by: two sisters, Helen Meyer in infancy and Rita Meyer; and a brother-in-law, Van P. Combs.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with a 6:30 p.m. parish Scripture service. Memorials: may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, in care of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oelwein. Condolences may be left at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home website.
