Marshall McKenney Marshall Dean McKinney, 70, of Lowell, Arkansas, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at the Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale, Arkansas. Dean, as he was known, was born September 5, 1937, in Waterloo, son of Sidney Harold and Gladys Mae Chapman Knoll McKinney. He married Jill Minehart on May 6, 1961, and they divorced in 1976. He graduated from Orange Township High School and from Upper Iowa University and served as manager of the University of Northern Iowa Credit Union from 1974 until his retirement in 2002.
After retirement, he moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where he was able to enjoy golf almost year around. Survivors include a daughter, Dawn Ellen (Michael Christensen) McKinney of Bettendorf; a son, Devin Dean (Kathy Berenson) McKinney of Brooklyn, New York.; granddaughters, Hope Marie and Mya Lee Christensen; sisters, Maralee (Pierre) d'Albertis of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Miriam (Chuck) Canfield of Blairstown; several nieces and nephews; his longtime companion and friend, Diane Wagner, and special friend, Julie Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Galin "Bud" Knoll. A memorial service will be given on Saturday, October 4, 2008, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the College Hill Lutheran Church social hall in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
