Paul S. Mahon, 84, of Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, February 16, 2003, of natural causes. He was born September 15, 1918, in Ottumwa, son of John Keith and Ellen Stoltz Mahon. He married Ruth McConeghey on June 29, 1947, in Newton. Mr. Mahon had served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Iceland, Scotland, and France. He was head of data processing at the University of Northern Iowa from 1954 to 1966, and from 1966 until retiring in 1983 was an Iowa Department of Transportation systems analyst. He received a bachelor's degree from Lake Forest College, Illinois, and did postgraduate work at Iowa State University.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Paul, Jr. of Fayette; a daughter, Ellen Mahon of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and a brother, John K. of Gainesville, Florida. Preceded in death by: a brother, Samuel.
Memorials: may be directed to Habitat for Humanity. There will be no services; his body was cremated. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
