Curlie Robert Loggins, 41, of Cedar Falls, died September 9, 2015, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born November 7, 1973, in Greenwood, Mississippi, son of Curlie and Rosie Bryant Loggins. He married Heidi Horton on Sept. 4, 2011, in Waterloo. Curlie was formerly employed at the University of Northern Iowa, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves. Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Alexus Watts of Cedar Falls; a son, Gabriel Loggins of Waterloo; a stepson, Kameron Watts of Cedar Falls; his mother of Waterloo; two brothers, Sanford of Des Moines and Curtis of Waterloo; a niece, Tyari Gatrose; and two nephews, Jamal Holmes and Daniel Loggins. Preceded in death by: his father; maternal grandparents, Frank and Louemma Bryant; and paternal grandparents, Curlie and Almetha Loggins.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 18, and an hour before services, all at the church. Sanders Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: may be directed to the family at 530 Nicholas St., Waterloo, where they will receive friends. Curlie enjoyed basketball, traveling, family times, water and amusement parks, tennis and video games, City View, babysitting, and coaching. He participated in Transplant Olympics and after his heart transplant was a bone and tissue donor.
