HUDSON - Patricia Littrel, 82, of Hudson, died Sunday, Feb. 18, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of kidney cancer. She was born April 4, 1935, in Minneapolis, daughter of Charles and Anastasia Doughan-Durnin. She married Ward L. Littrel on May 8, 1954, in Minneapolis. He preceded her in death March 20, 2016. She graduated from high school in Albert Lea, Minn., in 1953. Patricia worked as an account clerk for UNI in the business office until retiring in 1990 after 24 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Eagle Center. She was a life time member of AMVETS Auxiliary and awarded Iowa Auxiliary Member of the Year in 1995. In 2001, she received the Governor's Volunteer Award. She coordinated Meals on Wheels for 20 years and Hudson Senior Meal Program. She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years.
Survived by: a daughter, Teresa (Tom) Peachee of California; a son, David Littrel of Waterloo; her grandchildren, Joshua Cummings, Stevie Marie (Luke) Anderson, Jared Peachee, Ashley (Steven) Tyre, Chyanne Peachee and Brock Peachee; her great-grandchildren, Brenna, Mia and Logan Escobedo, and Waylon and Westin Tyre; a sister, Barbara Lewis of Minneapolis; and a son-in-law, Robert Cummings of Marion. Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a son, Kenneth Littrel; a daughter, Jeanene Cummings; a brother, Charles "Bud" Durnin Jr.; and three sisters, Ella Mae Gorman, Betty Filipiak and Audrey Jewett.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Hudson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until services Saturday at Locke Funeral Home. Memorials in lieu of flowers: may be directed to the family for the Hudson Educational Fund for college scholarships. Condolences may be left at the Locke Funeral Home website. For many years she crocheted caps, afghans and shawls for Hospice Home and the Iowa Vets Homes. She enjoyed making quilts for family and canning jellies and jams.
