Isabelle Latch, 88, formerly of Janesville, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly, of natural causes. She was born January 19, 1910, in Janesville, daughter of Sidney and Amanda Wing Shaffer. She married Vern Crawford. They were divorced. She later married Howard Latch. They were divorced.
Ms. Latch received a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and taught for a time in a county schools. She worked as a clerk for the Appeals Board of Iowa in Des Moines and then worked as secretary for the US District Attorney, South District. After moving to Mount Pleasant, she worked as a secretary for her brother's automotive dealership, then returned to Janesville and went to work for the University of Northern Iowa as the secretary for the English Department, retiring in 1970.
Survived by: a son, Richard Latch of Ankeny; two grandsons; and a brother, Ross B. Shaffer of Mount Pleasant. Preceded in death by: a brother, Cassius Shaffer.
Services: There will be no visitation or services. Her body was cremated. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is in charge of arrangements.
