Dorothy May Koehring, 101, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, January 11, 2000, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home of natural causes. She was born June 16, 1898, near Lawrence, Kansas, daughter of William and Estelle Miller Koehring. She was a graduate of the University of Kansas, Lawrence, and earned a master's degree at Columbia University, New York City, in 1921. She received a teaching fellowship at Yale University, where she later earned a doctorate. She taught kindergarten for five years in Lawrence and also at Illinois Normal University for three years. She was a faculty member of Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) from 1933 until retiring in 1970, and was involved in the kindergarten program at Price Laboratory School. Later she was regional training officer for Iowa Head Start Program. Survived by: a nephew, William Seeley, Jr., of La Canada, California. Preceded in death by: a sister, Gertrude Seeley. Memorial services: 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Unitarian Universalist Society of Black Hawk County, 3912 Cedar Heights Drive. Private inurnment will be later in Lawrence. There will be no visitation. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: may be directed to the church.
