Jimmie L. Smith King, 65, of Lexington, Mississippi, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, October 22, 2011, in Lexington. She was born September 17, 1946, in Durant, Mississippi, daughter of Jemison Smith and Eunice Moore. She married Sam King on August 20, 1966. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1964.

Mrs. King worked for KWWL, Powers Manufacturing, and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for several years before retiring and moving to Lexington in 1993. 

Survived by: two daughters, Amelia (Clarence) Harris of Carthage, Mississippi, and Melissa of Lexington; two sons, Todd and Timothy, both of Lexington; five grandchildren, Joseph Carter III, Michael Saffold, Jr., Latrice King, Alizeria King, and Breanna King; two sisters, Jessie Lee Smith of Lexington and Clara (Jerry) Jackson of Waterloo; two brothers, James Smith of Waterloo and Matthew Jackson of Jackson, Mississippi; an adopted granddaughter, Tiesha Gibson of Ridgeland, Mississippi; a goddaughter, Michelle Jackson Johnson of Waterloo; three special friends, Geraldine Hoskin, Bobbie Williams, and Edna Crawley; and many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by: two brothers, Willie Smith and Robert Smith; and three sisters, Dorothy Martin, Reola Martin, and Rottee Kimble. 

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Porter & Son Funeral Home, Lexington. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
