Claratine Jackson Claratine Jackson, 69, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Allen Hospital of natural causes. She was born June 22, 1943, in Durant, Mississippi, daughter of Jamison Eunice Moore Smith. She married Jerry Dwayne Jackson September 4, 1964, in Waterloo. She worked at Americana Nursing Home, Covenant Medical Center, and retired from the University of Northern Iowa after nineteen years of service. Survived by: her husband; three daughters, Michelle (Orlando) Johnson, Tess Jackson, and Lisa Jackson, all of Waterloo; a son, Emmanuel Jackson of Waterloo; a sister, Jessie Smith of Lexington, Mississippi a brother, James B. Smith of Waterloo; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: a daughter, Sheila Jackson; two brothers, Sonny and R. B. Smith; and four sisters, Reola Martin, Dorothy Martin, Rotee Kimble, and Jimmie Lee King. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sanders Funeral Home, and also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials: may be directed to the family at 101 Candlewick Road, Waterloo, where they will be receiving friends. Claratine loved working in her garden with her plants and flowers. She enjoyed having family cook-outs and spending time with grandchildren. In her spare time she would make pillows and blankets that were special to all of us.
