James N. Ilax, 73, of Cedar Falls, died at home Saturday, February 6, 2010. He was born June 18,1936, in Cedar Falls, son of Nick and Clara Savage Ilax. He married Carolyn K. Holmes on June 18,1955, in Waterloo. 

A 1954 graduate of Cedar Falls High School, Mr. Ilax was employed as a steamfitter at Rath Packing Company, Waterloo, for twenty-four years, then with the University of Northern Iowa for nineteen years, retiring in 1997. 

Survived by: his wife; a son, Todd (Julie) of Evansdale; a daughter, Tracy Ilax of Osceola, Wisconsin, a daughter-in--law, Sue Ilax of Cedar Falls ; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Courtney) Ilax; Kimberly (Steven) Skaff, Anthony Ilax, Christina Ilax, Danielle Turner, and Taylor Turner; and two great-grandchildren; Nicholas Ilax, Jr., and Thomas P. Ilax. Preceded in death by a son, Thomas J.; and a sister, Marie Ravn. 

Services: 1:30 p. m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home, with interment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m: Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
