The Chair recognized Katherine Humphrey who read the following resolution:

Dr. Kenneth L. Hansen, Associate Professor in the Department of Business and Business Education, died of leukemia at Sartori Hospital Wednesday, December 4, 1968. He was born in 1930 at Callender, Iowa, where he attended both grade and high school. Dr. Hansen took his undergraduate work in Iowa colleges. He attended Waldorf Junior College for two years and received an Associate of Arts degree.

In 1950 he enrolled at the University of Northern Iowa. After one year he was inducted into the United States Army. Most of his time in the service was spent in Korea where he served under General Maxwell Taylor as stenographer for the Chief-of-Staff Headquarters Section, Eighth U. S. Army. Upon completing his army service, Dr. Hansen returned to the University of Northern Iowa and finished the work for his bachelor's degree. His master's and Ed. D degrees were both obtained from Colorado State College at Greeley. The latter was awarded in 1965.

Dr. Hansen spent fifteen years of teaching in the Iowa schools. In 1954 he taught in the high school at Lakota. In 1955 he accepted a position as instructor at Waldorf Junior College and remained there until he accepted a position at the University of Northern Iowa in the fall of 1957. Dr. Hansen was an active member of a number of professional and honorary organizations. He was a member of National Business Education Association, Iowa Business Education Association, American Association of University Professors, Phi Delta Kappa, Delta Pi Epsilon, and Pi Omega Pi. At the time of his death Dr. Hansen was serving as Executive Secretary to the Iowa Business Education Association.

His students and colleagues will remember Dr. Hansen with respect and affection. He was a dedicated teacher who set high standards for both himself and his students. As a teacher his special talent lay in his ability to inspire students to strive, with a remarkable willingness, to achieve the goals he asked them to set for themselves. As an advisor he gave unstintingly of his time in helping students with their problems and with their plans. Dr. Hansen has served the public schools of Iowa well. He was in demand as a consultant and as a speaker for various professional organizations and workshops. Although a promising career was cut short by his death, the heritage he has left to his students and to his colleagues will be long influential.

We suggest that these remarks be made a part of the minutes of the University Faculty Senate and that a copy be sent to his wife and to his father.
