George Hansen, 53, Payroll Coordinator at the University of Northern Iowa, died of congestive heart failure at Schoitz Medical Center at approximately 2:18 a.m., Friday, May 4, 1984. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. this evening at the Locke Funeral Home, 1519 West Fourth Street, Waterloo. Funeral services will be held at the McGinnis Funeral Home, 644 River Drive, Bettendorf, Iowa, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 1984. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
George was born on October 24, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George Martin and Mildred Marie Hansen. He graduated from Maine Township High School in Park Ridge, Illinois, and earned his B. A. degree from DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, in 1952. He married Virginia Bueter in Park Ridge, Illinois, on September 5, 1953. He served in the Army Signal Corps from September 5, 1952 until September 4, 1954. Prior to coming to UNI, he had been with American Air Filter Company in Chicago. George began his employment with UNI on August 29, 1977.
George is survived by his wife, Ginny, and two children: Jeffrey Scott, Cedar Falls, a student at UNI; and Joan Marie Foote of Waterloo. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
