Wayne R. Evenson, 60, of 1905 Winter Ridge Road, Cedar Falls, died early Saturday, October 14, 1989, of natural causes at his home. He was born January 17, 1929, in Dubuque, the son of Clarence and Elizabeth Kaune Evenson. He married Gloria A. Holtkamp September 8, 1956, in Williams. He served in the U. S. Army and was a first lieutenant from 1951 to 1953 in Germany. He received his bachelor of arts degree in 1951, his bachelor of science degree in 1957, and his law degree in 1963, all from the University of Iowa. He worked as an engineer for Interstate Power Company, then as associate professor at Purdue University, and then from 1966 until his retirement in 1988 as a professor in the School of Business at the University of Northern lowa. He was on the board of directors of the Iowa Association of Arbitration and was a member of the American and Iowa Bar Associations.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, B. David of Cedar Falls, Matthew of Fairbanks, Alaska, and John of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Evenson and Amy Evenson, both of Iowa City; he was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls. Burial will be in the St. Patrick section of Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either the Salvation Army or St. Stephen Catholic Student Center. Friends may call at Richardson Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday where the family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m., and where there will be a rosary at 4:30 p.m. Monday and a Scripture service at 7 p.m. Monday.
