Robert "Bob" R. Black, 94, of Janesville, formerly of 613 Vermont Street, Waterloo, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at his home of natural causes. He was born April 5, 1907, in Salem, Oregon, son of Theodore Aiken and Nellie Runkel Black. He married Bernice Irene Watters August. 28, 1944, in Waterloo. She died December 23, 1999. Mr. Black farmed for fourteen years, worked at John Deere for ten years, at Chamberlain Manufacturing for three years and at the University of Northern Iowa for ten years, retiring in 1972. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. 

Survived by: a daughter, Sharon Walther of Janesville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Matthew N. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Preceded in death by: a great-granddaughter; two brothers; and five sisters. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623 at the funeral home following services. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Norton Cemetery, Norton. Friends may call from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials: may be directed to the family.
