Theodore "Ted" Bergman, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, February 21, 2003, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo. He was born October 15, 1907, in Grundy County, son of Jacob and Susie Meester Bergman. He married Edna Claassen on March 22, 1939, in Stout. She died December 9, 1968. He married Marian McDowall Kaiser on November 17, 1984, in Strawberry Point. Mr. Bergman farmed west of New Hartford for forty-five years, then was a groundskeeper at the University of Northern Iowa for ten years.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Dale W (Peggy) of Hartland, Wisconsin; two daughters, Dorothy K. Roiseland of Waverly and Lorna S. Burger of Littleton, Colorado; a stepson, Paul (Joy) Kaiser, Jr. of Shell Knob, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Marilyn (Don) Fredrick of Strawberry Point and Marlene (Bud) Brown of Springfield, Missouri; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; twenty-two step-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Nevenhoven of Parkersburg and Rose (George) Pothast of Grundy Center. Preceded in death by: a daughter, Nancy Bergman Schoeman; six brothers, Jake, Joe, Hillard, George, Andrew, and William; and four sisters, Johanna Miller, Martha Boelman, Henrietta Bergman, and Ella Dreesman.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Orchard Hill Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Falls Lutheran Home chapel.
