Roger William Baumann, 75, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Parker Place in Parkersburg. He was born June 14, 1939, in Miltona, Minnesota, son of Ruben and Hattie Gadow Baumann. He married Sharon Stephens on November 23, 1962, in Minnesota Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Navy after more than twenty-one years of service. He was employed at the University of Northern Iowa for eighteen years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Waterloo AMVETS and St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Scott (Marcy) of Jesup; a daughter, Kim (Shane) Brown of Waterloo; two grandsons, Nicholas and Jeremy Baumann; and two sisters, Jean (Jim) Barrett of Waterloo and Shirley (Bud) Dail of Tucson, Arizona. Preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Don, Art and Harvey; and four sisters, Harriet, Lucile, Betty and Ruth.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Full military rites will be conducted at the church by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials: may be directed to St. Edward's Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
