Dr. Christine Czekai Bauman, 50, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo. She was born January 3, 1962, in Ridgeway, Pennsylvania, daughter of Walter and Ann Fleming Czekai. She married Dr. Mark P. Bauman on July 5, 1996, in West Bend, Wisconsin. Dr. Bauman received her undergraduate degree from Penn State and her Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was an associate professor of accounting at the University of Northern Iowa and a CPA. She served as the PricewaterhouseCoopers Professor of Accounting, director of the UNI Master of Accounting Program, and faculty adviser to the UNI Accounting Club. Survived by: her husband; a son, Matthew W. of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Eva (John) Chessario of Hartland, Wisconsin, and Karen Spangler of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; a brother, Joe Czekai of Buffalo, New York; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by: her parents. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. today, along with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m., and from 11 a.m. until services Saturday, all at St. Stephen. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: may be directed to St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center or UNI Accounting Club, in lieu of flowers.
