Wayne O. Aurand, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. He was born July 27, 1923, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Reuben H. and Evelyn G. (Parkinson) Aurand. Wayne married Miriam Hansen on August 21, 1948 in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death on April 2, 1979. Wayne married Eileen G. Beattie on August 9, 1980. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2015. He graduated from Ft. Dodge High School, earned his B. A. from the University of Northern Iowa, received his M. A. from the University of Michigan and earned his Ph. D. from the University of Illinois. Wayne taught both general music and band for many years at Price Lab School in Cedar Falls. He was a member of the Cedar Falls Lions Club.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Libby Aurand, of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; his brother, Elmer Aurand, of Ames, Iowa; one stepson, Neil Beattie, of Waterloo; two stepdaughters, Cyndie (John) Scoles, of New Hartford and Barb Bergen, of Olathe, Kansas; five grandchildren, Kai (Jeremy) Scoles, Tia (Billy) Ackerson, Jessica (Nick) Pitcher, Byron Bergen, and Chelsea (Andy Lutman) Bergen, and six great-grandchildren, He was preceded in death by his parents and both wives; two sons, Robert and David Aurand, and one sister, Dolores McRae.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church and NewAldaya Lifescapes. Condolences may be left at the Dahl Funeral Home website.
