Monabelle McKinley Hake, 105, formerly of Cedar Falls, died February 14, 2011, at Queen Anne Healthcare nursing facility, Seattle. She was born February 3, 1906, in Warrensburg, Missouri, daughter of Peter J. and Ruby Ellen McKinley. She married Herbert V. Hake on June 4, 1930, in Fayette, Missouri. He died in 1980. Mrs. Hake attended high school St. Charles, Missouri, then attended Lindenwood College, and transferred to the University of Missouri, where she received her bachelor's degree in physical education in 1928. She taught physical education at Central Wesleyan College, Warrenton, Missouri, and at Central College, Fayette. She joined the theater staff at the University of Northern Iowa as costume designer in 1959, and continued in this position for fourteen years. She was a charter member of the Cedar Falls Historical Society and was a member of United Church of Christ. Survived by: two daughters, Patty Johnson of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Priscilla Lauris of Seattle; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: a brother, Harold McKinley. Burial: was February 18, 2011, in Seattle.
