Mary C. Lindaman, 63, benefits coordinator at the University of Northern Iowa until she retired on April 30, 1982, died of cancer at Schoitz Medical Center at approximately 10:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 1984. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 6, 1984, at 1:30 p.m. at the Aplington Baptist Church, with burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington. Visitation will be from 1:00-9:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Schwartz-Engelkes Chapel, in Aplington. The casket will be closed. A memorial fund will be decided on at a later date by the family.
Mary was born May 26, 1920, at Seaton, Illinois, the daughter of R. G. and Florence Morris Ranney. She graduated from high school at Monmouth, Illinois. She married Edwin Lindaman on March 8, 1941, at Goodland, Kansas. They have lived in Aplington since 1946. Mary began her career at UNI as a secretary in the Personnel Office in 1966. In 1977, Mary became benefits coordinator. She served while at UNI as an ex-officio member of the Workshop for Educational Office Personnel for approximately 10 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Aplington Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, and was in the church choir for over 30 years.
Mary is survived by her husband, Edwin; three children, Mary Kay (Mrs. Philip Gehman), Greensboro, North Carolina; Leslie (Mrs. Norman Allen), Topeka, Kansas; and Gerald, Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Also surviving Mrs. Lindaman are her mother, Mrs. R. G. Ranney, Shelbina, Missouri; a brother, Dr. W.R. Ranney, Rolla, Missouri; and a sister, Jocelyn (Mrs. Ted Hepworth), Callao, Missouri; and three grandchildren.
