Marlys L. McCunniff, 91, of the Western Home Communities Martin Center, died there Thursday, January 8, 2004, of natural causes. She was born June 3, 1912, in Grundy Center, daughter of Walter and Minnie Meyers Huyck. She married Manford "Mac" McCunniff November 24, 1932, in Chicago; he died September 28, 1984. Mrs. McCunniff received a bachelor of arts degree from Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) in 1932 and was employed as a supervisor in the Registrar's Office at UNI for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1978. She was a past worthy matron of Cedar Falls Chapter 78 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survived by: two sons, Monte Joe (Sonia) and Merrill (C. J.), both of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: three sisters, Exene Huyck, Ferrol Coffman, and Helen Bienfang; and a brother, Harlan Huyck.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and with a 4 p.m. OES memorial service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
