Lester "Dennis Louie" Juhl, 72, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, August 15, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo. He was born June 8, 1942, in Rockwell, son of Louie and Esther Hansen Juhl. He married Carlyn Shepherd on February 3, 1973, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls. A 1960 graduate of Greene High School, Greene, and a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Lester was employed as an electrician at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 2001.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Brock (Leona) of Springfield, Illinois, and Tommy of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Susan Juhl of Oceanside, California; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three extended granddaughters, known as the three Ms; and a brother, Ronald of Greene. Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Roger.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with inurnment at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
