Laura E. Falkler died at her home in Cedar Falls on October 31, 1934. She had retired only three years ago after serving the institution for more than thirty years as a faculty member of the English Department.
Miss Falkler taught for thirteen years in the elementary schools of Illinois, Nebraska, and Missouri. In 1896 she came to the campus of the Iowa State Normal School as instructor in physical training and reading, a position she held for four years, when her title was changed to instructor in reading and elocution. Five years later her ranking was again changed to assistant professor of English and public speaking. This title remained unchanged for twenty-four years. She was employed in the English Department part time from 1929 until the time of her retirement in 1931.
