June Suzuki Stageberg, 89, of Cedar Falls, died at her home Tuesday, July 30, 2013. She was born June 20, 1924, in Ewa, Hawaii, daughter of Keiji and Kiyomi Katsunuma Suzuki. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Hawaii, a master's degree in guidance counseling from Columbia University, and a master's degree in library science from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught middle school in Hawaii and at Malcolm Price Laboratory School in Cedar Falls, and was also youth librarian at UNI for a time.
Survived by: her companion, Jack Russell of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Anne (Arlan Bolstad) Hockey of Cedar Falls and Bobbi (Roger McKenna) Talbott of Bloomington, Minnesota; and three grandchildren, Sarah and Jeanne Stambaugh and Michael Hockey. Preceded in death by: a brother, George Suzuki; and a sister, Ruth Serrano.
Services: Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. Richardson Funeral Service assisted the family.
Memorials: may be directed to charity of donor's choice.
