Jean Griffiths, Instructor in the Department of Teaching, died Sunday, 23 June 1974, at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Her death followed a long illness. Mrs. Griffiths was born at Fort Dodge, Iowa, on 12 February 1930. She graduated from high school in Eagle Grove, Iowa, in 1948, and received the B. A. degree in 1954 and her M. A. in 1967, both from the University of Northern Iowa.
She taught in the public schools in Webster City and Fort Dodge; served as the Head of the Business Department for six years at the Fort Dodge Senior High School; taught at the Webster City Junior College and the Fort Dodge Junior College. She joined the staff at the University of Northern Iowa in 1968.
Mrs. Griffiths belonged to Delta Pi Epsilon Chapter at UNI and had served as Vice President and Secretary. She also worked on Committees for AAUW, and was a member of NEA, ISEA, National Business Education Association, Iowa State Business Education Association, UNIEA, and the American Vocational Association.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 27 June at Corpus Christi Church in Fort Dodge at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. The flag will be flown at half mast during the time of service and the Campanile bells will be played in memory of Mrs. Griffiths.

Services for Mrs. John Griffiths, 44, of 310 Ivanhoe Road, will be at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, and at 11:30 at Corpus Christi Church there. She died at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo Sunday night of cancer. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge.
Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Jaclyn, at home, her mother. Mrs. Ida Harvey, and her brother, Albert Lee Harvey, both of Fort Dodge.
She was born in Fort Dodge and attended Eagle Grove schools and Eagle Grove Junior College. She later attended the University of Northern Iowa. She was the former Jean Harvey. She was married in 1956 to John Griffiths in Fort Dodge, and in 1967 the couple moved to Waterloo, where she was associate professor of education at the University of Northern Iowa.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
