Word has reached us that former music faculty member Jane Mauck passed away recently. Professor Mauck, who reportedly had not been fully able-bodied for a couple of years, sustained injuries during a fire at her house at 1709 Iowa Street on October 14.
Mauck joined the University faculty in 1946 as an Instructor of Voice, rising to the rank of Associate Professor at the time of her retirement in 1980. During her tenure, she also taught vocal ensemble methods and conducted the Womens Chorus. A graduate of Drake University (B.M., M.M., both in voice), Mauck also earned additional graduate credits at the Juilliard School of Music, Northwestern University, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
