Harley Elwood Erickson, 81, of Cedar Falls, died at Western Home Communities, Elizabeth Martin Health Center, Monday, October 18, 2004. He was born July 6, 1923, in Sparta, Wisconsin, son of Evan and Hilda Olson Erickson. He married Beverly Wolf July 22, 1950, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She died June 27, 1993. Dr. Erickson received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, and his master's degree and Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was a university professor for thirty-six years, retiring from the University of Northern Iowa in 1987. He also served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and was professor emeritus at UNI.
Survivors include: two sons, Dennis (Patricia) of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, and Steven (Ellen) of Plano, Texas; and a daughter, Sally Erickson of Placentia, California. Preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and a sister, Alta Hagen.
Services: 10:30 am. Thursday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. Military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post No. 49.
