George William Pearce, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. He was born August 5, 1911, in Cody, Wyoming, son of Joseph H. and Ora Mable Williams Pearce. He married Edith Lenora McCormick on January 15, 1938, in Osceola. Mr. Pearce and his wife farmed and raised turkeys for many years, and in 1963 he started working in the custodial department at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1981.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Don W. (Emily) of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Charlotte (Louis) Smith of Cedar Falls and Janice Loftus (Gerry Kirchberg) of Evansdale; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Hiram and Donald L. (Darlene), both of Waterloo. Preceded in death by: two brothers, Harry and Charlie; and five sisters, Pauline Ducklow, Mary Schipplick, Lucille Fulk, Darlene May, and an infant sister.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Cedar Falls, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials: may be directed to the church.
