George Garth, 74, of 1216 West First Street, Cedar Falls, a retired maintenance department employee at the University of Northern Iowa, died Sunday evening, December 30, 1984, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. Services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established and friends may call at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home one hour before the service at the church. Mr. Garth was born July 15, 1910, in Dubuque, the son of Ralph and Adele Walters Garth. He married Dorothy Metcalf August 29, 1940, in Nashua. Mr. Garth was employed in the maintenance department at UNI from 1960 until his retirement on January 5, 1979.
Mr. Garth is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Custer of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Joyce Goodrich of Cherokee; a brother, Ralph Garth of Rockford, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Tracy of Valentine, Nebraska; and six grandchildren.
