Elizabeth R. Johnson, 62, died Monday night (June 2) at the Covenant Medical Center-Schoitz Hospice Unit. Elizabeth had been employed at the University since April 3, 1969. She was head cook at the Towers Food Service. Elizabeth was born May 2, 1924, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Theodore and Johanna Wiese Mienders. She married Lloyd John Johnson August 1965, in Cedar Falls. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Steven Baugh of Cedar Falls and Thomas Griffen of Florissant, Missouri; a daughter, Lynda Farinella of Elmwood Park, Illinois; a brother, Dan Mienders of Cedar Falls; a sister, Peggy Watson of Carlsbad, California; seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, four sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home and for an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials may be sent to Schoitz Hospice Unit or the First United Methodist Church.
