She came to the United States as a graduate student and received a master's degree in Library Science from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1966. Wayne and Elisabet came to Cedar Falls in the fall of 1970 when Wayne became the assistant dean of students at the University of Northern Iowa, a position he held until his death six years later. She was employed for eight years at UNI's Public Information Office, for eleven years at the Cedar Falls Public Library, and for three years at GMAC Mortgage in Waterloo. Concurrent with her employment, Elisabet was a graduate student at UNI where she earned a master's degree in French.

Elisabet is survived by her mother, Gudrun Hadell (Mrs. William) Crawford of Bethesda. Maryland, by her brother, Anders Hadell of Vasteras, Sweden, and by several nieces and nephews also in Sweden. There will be no visitation as Elisabet's body has been cremated and her ashes will be inurned in Sweden during the summer of 2001. Richardson's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The Reverend Ben Webb, rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, will preside at a memorial service to be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, January 17. at the church, Seerley and Melrose Avenues, in Cedar Falls.
