Edith Marie Crippen, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo. She was born November 14, 1917, in rural EarIville, daughter of Edward F. and Iva V. Wendling Haas. She married Eldon G. Crippen on November 3, 1943, in Anamosa. He died June 12, 1987. Mrs. Crippen had been employed as a cook at the University of Northern Iowa food service, retiring in 1983. Survivors include: two sons, Robert (Aleta) and Douglas (Debra), both of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Mary (Joseph) Niedert of Dubuque; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Erma Coleson of Manchester and Margaret Furseth of Lancaster, Wisconsin. Preceded in death by: a son, Edward; four brothers, Leonard, Gene, Alvin, and Donald Haas; and two sisters, Helen Kirby and Edna McDonald. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorial fund: has been established.
