Mrs. Dorothy Gager, secretary, Student Teaching Office, passed away Sunday, April 2, 1978, in Iowa City. Dorothy started her employment in 1961 as secretary to the National Association for Teacher Educators, for Dr. A. C. Moon. In 1963, when the position of Director, Student Field Experience was created, Dorothy served in a double capacity as secretary in that office, in addition to her position in the office of Association of Teacher Educators. In 1966, when the Association for Teacher Educators was moved to Washington, D. C., Dorothy became full-time secretary in the Office of Student Field Experience. She was working in that capacity in April 1976 when she went on disability leave under the University's long-term disability program. Dorothy is survived by her husband and three children; Gary, Gail, and Grant. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, April 6, 3 P.M. at the Dahl-Vanhove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be given to the American Cancer Society. The flag will be flown at half-mast during the time of memorial services.
Memorial services for Mrs. Dorothy M. Gager. 60. of 1521 W. Fourth St., Cedar Falls, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at the Dahl-VanHove-Schoof Funeral Home. Mrs. Gager died of cancer Sunday evening at the University Hospitals in Iowa City. The body was donated to the medical school. She was born October 12. 1917, in Dubuque, the daughter of Leonard and Rose Link Bechius. She married Martin Gager February 4, 1943, in Seattle, Washington. She was employed as a secretary in the Department of Teaching at the University of Northern Iowa. She is survived by her mother, Rose, of Dubuque; her husband; two sons, Gary and Grant, both at home; one daughter, Gail Gager of Belmond: one brother, David Bechius of East Dubuque; and three sisters, Mrs. Jeannette Conlan of Des Moines, Mrs. Rita Montgomery of Annandale, Virginia, and Mrs. Eleanor Bateman of Tucson, Arizona. The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.
