Daryl Strassburg, 77, of Waterloo, died Monday, November 28, 2011, at Allen Hospital after a long illness. He was born July 11, 1934, in Thornton, son of Carl and Rose Zieman Strassburg. He married Mary Grosse on June 27, 1968, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waterloo. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1952. Mr. Strassburg began work for Northwestern Bell in 1952, and retired in 1988. He also did phone work at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Shellie (Troy) Danielson of Cedar Falls; two sons, Mark (Nicole) of Cedar Falls and Steve of Waterloo; two daughters, Staci (Bob) Leatherman of San Antonio, Texas, and Stefanie (Steve) Johnson of Holland, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathryn Hovey and Rose Marie Wiggins, both of Charles City. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, and will continue for an hour before services Saturday at the church Memorials: may be directed to the family.
