Dale F Gootee, 73, of Waterloo, died Friday, May 18, 2007, at Allen Hospital. He was born April 10, 1934, in Manchester, son of Everett and Bernice M. Jacquot Gootee. He married Theresa Svoboda September 6, 1962, in Waterloo. Mr. Gootee was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Marines. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa State Teachers College. He was employed with John Deere for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1988, and later with Hy-Vee. He taught at AIC (Hamilton College) and was an adjunct instructor in the Department of Industrial Technology at the University of Northern Iowa. 

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Dr. Michael (Dianne) of Peoria, Illinois, and Timothy (Julie) of Urbandale: a daughter, Kathryn Baasie of St. Joseph, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jonathan Gootee, Lauren Gootee, Kara and Alexis Gootee, and Kayla Baasie; and two sisters, Mary Ann (William) Ratter of Napa, California, and Joyce (Dr. Paul) Zopolsky of Dallas. Preceded in death by. a granddaughter, Leah Renee Baasie; and a brother, Gerald. Services: 10:30 am Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Clutier. Public visitation from 4 to 8 pm today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m vigil service, and at the church for an hour before services on Monday. Memorials: maybe directed to St. Edward Catholic Church.
