Clare Rita Nelson, 89, of Waterloo, died Saturday, February 12, 2005, at West Village Nursing Center, Independence, of natural causes. She was born in Arcadia, Wisconsin, on September 13, 1915, daughter of John and Sophia Pica Tempski. She married Raymond Kampa in Arcadia, Wisconsin, and they later divorced. She later married Conrad Nelson on December 4, 1960, in Waterloo. Mrs. Nelson moved to Winona, Minnesota, where she worked in a factory. She later worked at Schoitz Memorial Hospital, Motel Inn and Holiday Inn, and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, as a housekeeper. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Waterloo. Survivors include: a son, Wayne D. (Sue) Kampa of Jesup; a daughter, Sandra K. (Daniel) Hanson of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Shari (Tone) Holst of Urbana, Karin (Marty) Ellingson, Larry (Shannon) Kampa of Myrtle, Minnesota, Julie Kampa (Tony Donlea) of Jesup and Johnathan Hanson of Des Moines; six great-grandchildren, Brooke Uchytil, Trenton and Paige Holst, Jeremiah and Shania Kampa and Carson Donlea; a brother, Raymond Tempski of Whitehall, Wisconsin; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Tempski of Arcadia. Preceded in death by: her parents; husbands; a granddaughter, Lori Kampa; a brother, Hycienth Tempski; and a sister, Rosa Lygha. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials: may be directed to the family.
