Avis Heerts, 60, Clerk Typist II in the Student Field Experience Office at the University of Northern Iowa, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, June 17, 1985, at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 1985, at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, Parkersburg, Iowa, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, 7:00-9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.; and at the church before the services. Avis was born on May 5, 1925, the daughter of Saben and Jennie Hagan. She married William Heerts on March 17, 1944. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1979. Avis is survived by two sons and three daughters: Bruce, Great Bend, Kansas, and Tim, Clear Lake, Iowa; Rebecca (Mrs. Marvin Dewey) Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lucinda (Mrs. Conrad Finck), Lamorlaye, France, and Muriel at home in Stout, Iowa. Also surviving Mrs. Heerts is one sister, Hilda (Mrs. Russell Heerts); one brother, Andrew Hagan, DeLand, Florida, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
