Arne Bendix Jensen, 83, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, Iowa, with Pastor Mark Hagen officiating: Arne was born on September 28, 1920, in Alslev, Denmark, the son of Laurids and Dorthea Jensen. On August 28, 1948, he married Johanna Irene Pedersen in Denmark. Shortly after their marriage, Arne and Irene embarked on their great adventure to America, arriving in Cedar Falls in early October 1948. In Cedar Falls, Arne and Irene raised their family of three daughters and two sons. He worked as a carpenter for various construction companies. He also worked as an inspector for the University of Northern Iowa and worked on the UNI-Dome, power plant, and fine arts building projects. Arne enjoyed his family, farm; and building houses and furniture. Arne is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Irene, of Cedar Falls; daughter, Ilse Myren and husband Ben of Colville, Washington; son, Eric of Cedar Falls, Iowa; daughter, Irma Res and husband Derric of Vermillion, South Dakota; son, Al and wife Michelle of Missoula, Montana; daughter, Ilka Daniels and husband Randy of Ankeny, Iowa. He is also survived by one brother and one sister of Denmark, and eleven grandchildren. Arne was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Arne will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In memory of Arne, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
