Anna Mabel Davies Brown, 91, of Hudson, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at her cabin in Chequamegen National Forest National Forest, Lake Bellevue, in northern Wisconsin, of natural causes. She was born February 10, 1915, in Plymouth, daughter of Joseph W. and Anna Mary Sutton Davies. She married Dr. Guy C. Brown on June 24, 1938. He died June 12, 1988. Mrs. Brown graduated from Plymouth High School in 1931. She attended Mason City Junior College for two years, then transferred to Iowa. State Teachers College for two years, where she graduated with a teaching certificate in 1935. She taught from 1935 to 1938 at Orange Township Consolidated School, and from 1943 to 1953 at Hudson Consolidated Schools, where she filled the position of principal due to the coming of the war and drafting of the servicemen. Later she became a member of the Department of Teaching at Iowa State Teachers College. She continued teaching at the Price Laboratory School until 1970.
Survivors include: thirty nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: two sisters and a brother. Services: 1 a m Tuesday at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Hudson, with burial in Hudson Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: may be directed to Hudson Community Library.
