Wilbert J. Wirtz, 79, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Ravenwood. He was born February 8, 1926, in Hoven, South Dakota, son of Robert and Anna Wagner Wirtz. He married Beverly A. Stocks November 26, 1951, in Waterloo. He was a custodian at St. John's Catholic Church and School and later with the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1989. 

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Randy (Roxanne) of Janesville and Michael of Cedar Fails: eight daughters, Sandra (Steve) Siemens of Traer, Janette (Michael) Kvidera of Marshalltown, Nancy Chapman, Vickie Wirtz, Lou Ann Wirtz, Robin (Dave) Anderson and Christine (Darin Gray) Wirtz, all of Waterloo, and Christine (Anthony) Bedard of Dunkerton; twenty grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Clara Simons of Hoven, Theresa (Cletus) Kremer of Independence, and Marie Siebel of Waterloo. Preceded in death by: five brothers, Nicholas, Ervin, Herbert, Joseph, and an infant brother; and two sisters, Leona Phillips and Millie Siebel 

Services: 10:30 am. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 pm vigil service, and at the church for an hour before services Tuesday.
