Vera M. "Vee" Shaffer, 67, of Janesville, died at home Wednesday, July 2, 2014. She was born August 27, 1946, in Fairfield, daughter of Bernard and Ruth Kime McCormick. She married Douglas Shaffer on February 15, 2003, in Lansing. She was employed as secretary and volunteer coordinator with the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on the University of Northern campus in Cedar Falls.
Survived by: her husband; a daughter, Lisa Dixon of Sumner; two stepdaughters, Trina (Jim) Springsteen of McGregor and Kristi Shaffer of Marquette; three stepgrandchildren, Katlyn, Ben, and Becca; a sister, Fran (Marlin) Woollums of Ottumwa; and a brother, Gary McCormick of Libertyville. Preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Shawn Dixon; and two infant brothers, Larry and Terry.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with inurnment at a later date in Prairie Center Cemetery, Packwood. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
