MEMO TO: University Community
Sharon A. Teisinger, Assistant Coordinator of the Department of Teaching's Child Development Center, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 1995, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo from natural causes. Sharon has been assistant coordinator since the fall of 1992 and was also working on her M. A. degree in Early Childhood Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
Ms. Teisinger was an experienced child-care professional. Sharon owned and operated her own pre-school for many years before she returned to UNI to complete her degree. In a recent performance appraisal by her administrators, Sharon was referred to as "an exceptional teacher" and adept communicator" who "develops creative instructional units" and "is aware of each child as an individual." "Care and instruction of children are a priority."
As a coordinator she was actively involved in all aspects of the Child Development Center administrative functions, working as a competent team member in curriculum development, center administration, and furthering the early childhood profession by presenting at local, state, and national conferences and programs. Ms. Teisinger was a professional in the highest caliber. She will be missed by the University community and by her home community of Tripoli where she was a School Board member for the past eleven years, serving as president for the past seven years. Sharon was also an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Crane Creek, currently serving as church treasurer.
All will miss her but none more than her three children: Jennifer, a UNI student; Gregory, a Cornell College student; and Elizabeth, at home.
