Word has been received in our office of the death of S. C. (Chick) Henn. He died Monday, February 13, of a heart attack at Friendship Village, Schaumburg, Illinois, at the age of 88. He was the Medical Director of the Student Health Center from 1961 until 1966. Private memorial services will be Saturday, February 18, 1984, at 5:00 p.m. in Hamburg, Iowa. His body was cremated. The family requests no memorials.
Dr. Henn was born October 2, 1895, at Blanchard, Iowa. He married Helen Brumbach Roe on June 4, 1921, at Chicago, Illinois. He received his B.A. in 1917 from Colorado State College, an M.S. in 1919 from the University of Chicago, and his M.D. in 1921 from Rush Medical College in Chicago. Prior to his employment with the University of Northern Iowa, he was Chief of Staff at the former St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Henn was Assistant Director in the Student Health Center from 1958 until 1961. He became a Staff Physician in 1966 and remained in that position until his retirement in 1971. Dr. Henn was an athletic booster and was often honored by sitting with the football team during home games. At one of these home games, he was given an I.S.T.C. jacket from the Lettermen's Club, which he treasured.
Dr. Henn is survived by his wife, Helen; three children, Robert Roe Henn, Mrs. Raymond Deist (Dorothy Jean), and Mrs. J. J. Groebner (Helen Martha), all of Chicago, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
