Ruby E. Rhoades, 74, of 719 W. 20th Street, Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, July 9, 1995, of natural causes. Ruby began her career at UNI in March 1965 and worked as a Food Service Coordinator II for the Department of Residence until retiring in January 1981. She continued to work on a call-in basis for the Department of Residence through June 1986. She was born on April 13, 1921, in Guthrie Center, daughter of Henry Clay and Cora Iva Bailey Wells. She married Victor B. Rhoades on April 24, 1940, in Cedar Falls. Victor Rhoades also worked at UNI in the Power Plant and died in October 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Turner of Cedar Falls; a son, Gary L. of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Darrell Dean Wells of Stoneham, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Ronald L. and Dennis R.; and infant twins.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, July 12, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Cancer and Heart Foundation.
