Rollin "Rollie" G. Evers, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, February 2, 2002, at Sartori Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 24, 1925, in Arcadia, son of Grover William and Laura Elizabeth Bruggeman Evers. He married Cleone Stienkamp on June 17, 1947, in Arcadia. Mr. Evers was a trooper with the Iowa State Patrol for four years, a deputy sheriff for Boone County for five years, served one term as Boone County sheriff, and was the first public safety director at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1987. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, having fought in the Battle of Bulge in the European Theater.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Mark of Mason City and Doug of Kokomo, Indiana; a daughter, Renee Evers of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth of Dubuque.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with inurnment at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and Cremation Service, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorial fund: will be established.
