Carpenter

Richard D. Christopher, 74, of Waterloo, died Monday, September 7, 2009, at Allen Hospital of cancer. He was born February 18, 1935, in Waterloo, son of William and Bernice Pries Christopher. He married Beverly Swift on December 3, 1987, in Waterloo. Mr. Christopher was employed as a carpenter with the University of Northern Iowa for twenty-one years, retiring in 2002. He also served with the Army Reserve for twenty years. 

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Randy of Waterloo, Rick of Janesville, and Rob of Minneapolis; a daughter, Cindy Kieffer of Waterloo; a stepson, Steve Swift of Savage, Minnesota; two stepdaughters, DeeAnn Matz of Canyon, Texas, and Lori Malloy of Des Moines; several grandchildren; a brother, William of California; and three sisters, Beverly Lehner and Carrie Duckett, both of Rockwell, and Katherine Pollack of Evansdale. Preceded in death by: a brother, Danny.
