Paul D. "Doc" Tenney, D. O., 80, of Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, June 9, 2013. He was born September 27, 1932, in Palo, son of the Reverend William C. and Edith Davidson Tenney. He married Florence "Dutch" Thompson in 1965 in Rockford, Illinois, and they later divorced. He married Annette Barnard in 1971, and they later divorced. He then married Janet Thompson in 1984. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School and attended Cornell College. In 1965, he graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines. He opened a private practice in Glidden, and shortly after, served with the VA Hospital in Knoxville as senior grade officer. In 1971, he went to work for UNI Medical Service, where he practiced for twenty-three years, retiring in 1994. During medical school, he worked as a mechanic at an import car garage in Des Moines, where he began his racing career and prepared engines for Alfa Romeo. 

He was also a jazz musician, playing at numerous local venues, and developed a woodwind mouthpiece re-facing business that served elite customers worldwide. Survived by: his wife, Janet Thompson; two sons, Steven (Mindy) and Michael (Olya); three grandsons, Brian, Dustin, and Joshua Tenney; a step-granddaughter, Lisa Strueva; three great-grandsons, Nolan, Nathan, and Clark Tenney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sybil and Jerry Kintz, Phyllis Thompson, Kathy and Gary Martin, Bill Thompson, Gordon and Michelle Thompson, and Tod and Pam Thompson; a niece, Patricia (Bill) Hewig; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by: a brother, Craig D.; a nephew, Craig C. Tenney; and uncle, Philip Tenney. Family will receive friends: from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hearst Center for the Arts, Cedar Falls. Memorials in lieu of flowers: may be directed to Cedar Band Humane Society, 1166 W. Airline Highway, Waterloo, Iowa 50703; or Cedar Valley Hospice, P. O. Box 2880, Waterloo, Iowa 50702.
