Robert Fullerton of Parkersburg Taken by Death
Parkersburg, Iowa. -- Robert Fullerton, 81, for many years a teacher of voice, died in his sleep here Saturday night, January 22, 1949, of complications of age. He was born October 30, 1867, in Canada, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Angus Fullerton, and as a child came to Rockford, Iowa, with his parents. After attending Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls he came to Parkersburg and taught school here. He married Miss Ella Watters, June 12, 1900. In 1910 Mr. Fullerton went to Italy to study voice and after completing his work there, returned to the States and taught voice at Iowa State Teachers College and at University of Iowa. During World War I he served the US armed forces in voice work through the YMCA. After his return from the war Mr. Fullerton taught voice at the MacPhail School of Music in Minneapolis, Minnesota, until 1939 when he retired to Parkersburg. He was a member of the Congregational Church, the Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a past master of the local Masonic lodge.
Surviving are his widow, three brothers, Dick Fullerton, Rockford; Angus and P. G. Fullerton, Lawton, Oklahoma. He was preceded by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Houts Funeral Home and at 1:30 at the Congregational Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
